My name is Wendy. I am the Founder of  Katie's Critters Small Animal Rescue, Inc. a not for profit  501 c 3 rescue. , named after our older daughter Katie.    We are an all Volunteer Rescue Organization. We DO NOT get paid for what we do!

   My husband , John and I have been doing animal rescue for over 16 years now. When we were children we both had a great passion for animals, and  we still do.  We  have 2 children of our own now  that are following their mom and dad's foot steps in loving animals. 

John  and I started out taking in and fostering unwanted, stray, and abused dogs,  puppies, cats, and kittens.We also fostered  for the local animal shelters, and  ex-racing Greyhound rescues.  Over the years we noticed that there was a growing need for small animal rescues.  We felt that there were enough dog and cat rescues, we would start consentrating on the small animals, and birds. 

  We also feel that there is also a great need for education. We are teaching our 2 children how to be  responsible pet owners, and they intern, talk to their friends.  My children really love helping us with all the animals! I go to schools and do lectures about small animal care., teaching them what is involved with running a rescue, what to do if you see signs of neglect. Teaching students to do RESEARCH about a pet BEFORE they go out and get one, and the importance of spaying and neutering their pets to prevent over breeding. There are too many animals in rescues,and shelters all over waiting for good homes. We encourtage people to adopt instead of "Impulse purchasing" at a pet store.

 John and I take great pride in what we do for these little critters, and it does get  quite expensive with Exotic Vet bills, Avian Vet bills,  Food bills, and supplies. We depend  upon PUBLIC DONATIONS to help cover the cost  of Caring  for  all  these animals .  Donations are few and far between, and  our expenses keep increasing. I'm afraid we just can't keep up with the costs on  our own. WE NEED THE PUBLICS HELP,  we cannot continue to fund this rescue on our own anymore.

We have sacraficed our home, vacations,  and vehicles, for this rescue. We Love doing what we do. We are willing to do the hard work, but we need more Help, Volunteers, and  Foster Homes.
